Dear Neighbor
,

The autumn season has finally arrived, bringing with it cooler temperature and those forever falling leaves.  With this in mind it is important to remember, the combination of dew slick roads and wet leaves makes for hazardous driving conditions, especially when stopping and rounding curves. Please drive safely.

At this time there are still a few issues awaiting resolution. Descriptions of the open items have been included in this newsletter. On top of our watch list is the future development of the 330+ acres of the former Kings Park Psychiatric Center. Although the property is located outside the limits of our hamlet, based on its location and size any development there has the potential to seriously impact the community.

Our annual meeting and election of officers and director will take place on Thursday, December 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the all-purpose room at the Fort Salonga School, 39 Sunken Meadow Road. With predictions of “nor-easters” and harsh inclement weather for the upcoming winter season we thought it would be appropriate to invite members from the American Red Cross as our guest speakers. Working in conjunction with the Suffolk County Office of Emergency Management they will be making a presentation on emergency preparedness.

Looking forward to the holiday season, we will once again gather at the IGA Shopping Center for an afternoon of caroling and cheer as we await the arrival of the Kings Park Fire Department’s annual holiday parade.

As 2007 nears an end, so does my tenure as president of the association. I would like to take this opportunity to offer a heartfelt thanks to my fellow officers and board members, their support over the past two years has made for an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.

With best wishes for a safe and happy Thanksgiving Holiday, and looking forward to seeing you around the neighborhood,  I remain,

Sincerely yours,

 Ken Kraska
