Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic there were several items happening that were of extreme interest to the residents of Fort Salonga. Though many items have been delayed or postponed, the board members of the Fort Salonga Association continue to keep their fingers on the pulse of what is happening in and around our community. Some of the items that are this year (2021).
  • The former Capital One bank property on Ft. Salonga Rd. immediately east of Bread and Cheese Hollow Rd.

    • New owner to tear down the building and build a new 7-Eleven​

      • Major issue that affects the property is environmental ​

      • Regardless of our continued efforts to block 7-Eleven from building, the Town of smithtown has approved construction.

  • The property at Owl Hill

    • New owner wants to build new homes - on smaller than 1 acre plots. The Town of Smithtown is reviewing new plans before a new hearing will be held.

  • Indian Hills Country Club

    • New owners have proposed construction of condominiums. ​

      • Local residents are concerned with ​

        • Construction noise

        • Heavy truck traffic during construction

      • Environmental concerns​, incl.

        • Erosion at LI Sound shoreline

  • Corner lot at the intersection of Town Line Rd. and Pulaski Rd. - proposed 100,000 sq, ft. self storage building

    • Revisions are currently being made​
